The
O
and A level
syllabi are extremely interesting. It is a challenge to make
students realize that Geography is not about memorising names of
places. The low
Student:Teacher ratio means
classes can be lively with discussions and teaching does not always
have to be a oneway process. Moreover at TCS, I get to do all this
with wonderful people, many of whom were my
teachers...

I teach at The Cambridge
School because it gives me an opportunity to exercise my
imagination and creativity through crossfertilization of ideas
between students and myself. I try to inculcate a scientific
attitude among the students and make learning a joyful experience. I
get immense pleasure teaching at the conducive and liberal
environment of TCS encouraging our students to learn science through
questioning, investigating and discovering facts for themselves in
the enriched laboratory. |

I wanted to
teach in a new school so
that I could use my 18 years
of experience to the
advantage of the children. I
also wanted to work in a
small, homely, and friendly
environment which is devoid
of any politics...

It is my aim
to make mathematics as
simple as possible and to
make the children understand
that mathematics is nothing
but simple logic. Everybody
can do maths. It is not the
prerogative of the few best
students in class. I like to
introduce maths from the
beginning itself and let the
children be at ease with the
subject.

We not only do dry theories but
have a lot of fun in class, relating
Economic theories to our everyday
lives, current affairs as well as
our history and politics. It is
often a revelation, and a joyful
one, for students to realise that
their personal choices are made on
the same basis as predicted by the
Theory of Comparative Advantage in
International Trade, for example,
and to think of the many different
ways in which such a reality of life
in India as corruption can be
modeled into Economic theories. |
